VCE: Most Popular Australian Curriculum in China
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) program has become the most popular Australian Curriculum for Chinese schools. Although the VCE still has a long way to go to compete with IB, AP and A-level exams in terms of quantity, its VCE China Conference still managed to attract nearly 20 schools in China that have adopted the program for their year 11 and 12 students. With hundreds of graduates using their VCE ATAR score to apply for universities around the world, most of them end up in Australia. The Victorian Tertiary Admission Centre also published its first Northern Hemisphere examination timetable for the 2017-18 academic year.
This year’s VCE Conference in Nanjing included two days of teacher training, demo classes, and examination explanations for VCE teachers in China. It is a Victoria Curriculum Assessment Authority (VCAA) requirement that all Chinese schools which establish VCE programs have a partner school in Victoria, and the Victorian school is responsible for teacher training and mentoring throughout the collaboration.
