Top 10 Scientific Progresses in China Revealed

The top 10 Scientific Progresses in China was recently announced. It is an annual event hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), and supported by five major scientific journals (China Basic Science, Science & Technology Review, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Bulletin, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Chinese Science Bulletin) The selection of progresses was made from 335 published scientific projects.


Some of the top progresses of 2018 included: the Institute of Neuroscience within the Chinese Academy of Sciences/CAS Centre for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology successfully cloning Macaques based on somatic cell nuclear transfer technology; the first man-made single-chromosome eukaryote being created by the Centre for Excellence in Molecular Plant Sciences/Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology, CAS; Zhejiang University School of Medicine revealing the mechanism of depression and rapid anti-depression through ketamine; and an intelligent DNA nano-robot for tumour treatment being developed by the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, in collaboration with Arizona State University.
