Sichuan University and the University of Pittsburgh Build Joint School in Sichuan
Sichuan University and the University of Pittsburgh have begun construction on a new joint institute for undergraduate education. This is the first Sino-foreign facility in the region, and is expected to recruit 100 students next year, growing to 1600 over the coming decade. Three majors will be offered when the school opens, including industrial engineering, mechanical design and manufacturing & automation. The first cohort of students will graduate in 2019, and will have the option to spend their third and fourth years in Pittsburgh to attain a double degree.
