Post One-Child Era Leads to High Demand for Pre-School

Three academics from the Education R&D Center at South-west University have predicted a shortage of pre-school facilities in China from 2019. With an additional 15 million children anticipated in the post one-child policy age, the demand for pre-school facilities is set to reach its peak in 2021. A total of 58 million pre-school aged children will require schooling in 2021, leaving a shortage of 110,000 pre-school facilities. There will also be a shortage of more than 3 million pre-school teachers and caregivers. China will need to start preparing for this shortage by training new talent and investing in facilities.
