Ministry Measures Uphold Values on Campus
The Ministry of Education is tightening controls on the use of foreign textbooks in Chinese tertiary institutions. Faculties are now required to regularly complete self-evaluation questionnaires that include questions regarding the unauthorized use of foreign textbooks by faculty members and associated penalties imposed. At the same time, the MoE is identifying and promoting campus social media platforms that encourage socialist core values. A ministry spokesman told Xinhua that institutions must promote ideological and cultural content and allow students the freedom to develop cyber culture on campus.
