China Higher EdMainland China Ranked Eighth on List of Top Donors
While Mainland China is now the largest source of foreign students at US universities, Chinese students and their families are far from being the largest source of philanthropic donations. A report from The Wall Street Journal found that the Mainland ranks eighth as a source of donations to American tertiary institutions, despite supplying more than 30% of foreign students. Ahead of Mainland China in the WSJ list were Hong Kong, the US, Canada, India, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, and the UAE.
