KCL Builds Joint Medical Program with SUSTECH
The president of King’s College London (KCL) Edward Byrne and the president of Southern University of S&T (SUSTECH) CHEN Shiyi signed a joint medical institute agreement in June. Despite China having approx.30 joint programs in medical-related fields (medicine, bioengineering and hospital management), this will be the first joint institute to carry the name of “medical”. Other institutes who also deliver medical-related programs are the joint institutes between the University of Edinburgh and Zhejiang University, Glasgow College and China Electronic and Technology University (for a full list of medical / institutes, please click).
The KCL-SUSTECH joint institute will focus on fields which are “forward-looking, groundbreaking, and cross-disciplinary”. The graduates will receive degrees from both countries and the UK degree will enable students to be qualified by GMC (The General Medical Council). KCL also promises to invest its best research capabilities into this joint institute.
