First National AI Laboratory Established in China

The Hefei-based S&T University of China has received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission to establish the first national laboratory for brain-like artificial intelligence (AI). The laboratory will be established in collaboration with a number of the country’s top research bodies such as Fudan University, Shenyang Institute of Automation at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as the Baidu Corporation.
The laboratory will focus on the three bottlenecks of AI development: the unknown brain mechanism, unclear calculation methods and limited calculation capacity.
