First Chinese National to be Appointed UK University Vice-Chancellor
Professor Max Lu has been appointed as vice-chancellor of the University of Surrey, UK, becoming the first Chinese national to hold such position at a Western university. Professor Lu’s appointment represents a major opportunity for SINO-UK higher education relations and exchange, with a total of almost 90,000 Chinese higher education students already enrolled in the UK. It also offers a solid engagement opportunity for the whole Asia-Pacific region. Professor Lu’s main goal is to concentrate on Surrey’s teaching and research excellence, with a strong focus on cooperation with Chinese firms willing to invest in research internationally.
