First CELTA Program in China

Chinese training giant New Oriental has established the first CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program in China. Over 24 years New Oriental has built up a team of 30,000 teachers and has taught over 300 million students, helping many Chinese students to realize their study abroad ambitions through its intensive English learning model and exam focused learning style. Having already produced a number of “English teaching celebrities”, the new program is a step toward bridging the gap with international standards. New Oriental recently sponsored the 51th IATEFL, an international conference for ESL teachers’ professional development in Glasgow which welcomed over 3,000 participants.
