Chinese Supercomputer Becomes World’s Fastest
For the first time ever, a supercomputer that only uses Chinese technology has become the world’s fastest. Surpassing the US for the first time in making massively powerful computers completely based on home-grown processors, the Sunway TaihuLight at the National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi was recently proven the fastest in the world. China has also become the country with the most supercomputers that are ranked among the most powerful in the world, with a total of 167 systems, followed by US with 165 and Japan with 29. The use of supercomputers in China includes engineering and research on climate, weather, life sciences, advanced manufacturing and data analytics.
