China to Offer Students Scholarships to Belt & Road Initiative Nations
China’s August announcement of the introduction of 10,000 scholarships for students from countries along the Silk Road brings new opportunities for cooperation between China and the European Union. The Chinese Ministry of Education has announced the establishment of the Belt and Road Scholarship, which will function as a two-way scholarship system with an estimated 10,000 scholarships for foreign students to study in China, and sponsorship of 2,500 Chinese students to study in the Belt and Road initiative nations each year, for a period of 5 years. The action plan also listed projects that would see the joint funding of schools, and training for teachers and other professionals.
