China Releases its 60 Key Science & Engineering Challenges
The China Association of Science & Technology (CAST), China’s largest non-governmental organization of scientific and technological professionals, went through an extensive process involving nominations and evaluations from 70+ S&T committees, 3,000+ scientists, 54 leading scientists and 33 national academy members, and has recently released “China’s 60 Key Science and Engineering Challenges”. These challenges cover 12 disciplines: public safety, aviation and aeronautics, medicine, earth science, life science, energy and environment, IT, AI, transportation, agriculture, materials, and foundation sciences. CAST plans to guide the identification of directions for the nation’s scientific development needs in order to enhance China’s self-innovation capacity.
