China Focuses on Soccer Skills for Recruiting New Students to Top Universities
In an attempt to improve the country’s sporting skills, the MoE has announced a new plan encouraging universities to enroll highly-skilled soccer players, regardless of their academic results. Tsinghua University became the first high-level university to enroll students based on their soccer performance in March 2015 and Peking University will implement soccer-based enrollment for its 2016 spring semester.
