CAS Member Appointed as GTIIT’s 3rd President
GONG Xingao, a former Fudan professor in Computer Science and current member of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), an acclaimed scientist in computational condensed matter physics, was formally appointed as the President of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) in April this year.
Gong is the 3rd President of GTIIT’s 5-year history. GTIIT’s first President LI Jiange was extremely well-connected, being part of the Think Tank under Premier Zhu Rongji’s era as Deputy Director of NDRC (National Development and Research Center) and Chair of CICC (China International Capital Corporation).
GTIIT recruited 400 students in 2020, offering Gaokao result-based scholarships. Its cohort of 200 students will graduate in 2021. According to GIIIT, 80-90% of its lecturers are non-Chinese, with 60% of lecturers from Israel.
