The Chinese MoE announced the opening of a new Joint Studies College between Beijing Normal University and Cardiff University leading to a dual award by both institutions. The dual program students will spend the first and last year of the four-year degree in Cardiff and the middle two years in Beijing where students must also undertake work experience to increase their employability post-graduation. The opening is part of China’s drive to internationalize its higher education system and develop better cultural understanding between the UK and China. The MoE also announced the establishment of a Joint Institute of Medicine and Life Science by Cardiff University and Beijing Capital Medical University for the research of new treatments in cancer, public health, immunology, neuroscience and infectious diseases.
