Bill Gates Teams Up With Beijing Normal University to Launch Philanthropy Program
Bill Gates will team up with Beijing Normal University to create a program focused on philanthropic education. The target will be to raise US$16.1 million a year from the well-off in US and China. The program will have classroom teaching, overseas study tours, and input from industry members in philanthropic and social organisations. At present there is a lack of professional consultancies and training to help potential philanthropists in China. Beijing real estate billionaire couple Pan Shiyi and Zhang Xin last month announced that US$100 million would be put into their SOHO China Foundation to fund study for Chinese students at the world’s top universities, and US$15 million to fund study at Harvard University.
