Australia Eases Visa Processing Policy for Chinese Primary School Students
The Australian Immigration Department has announced that as of July 1st, 2016, the visa process for Chinese students of 6 years or older intending to study in Australia will be significantly simplified both for the student and companion parent(s). This is the second time since 2014 that Australia has reduced the application age and eased the process for Chinese students planning to attend either public or private Australian education institutions. The new “SSVF” visa policy (Streamlined Student Visa Framework) aims to keep the percentage of Chinese students in Australia on the rise by starting at a younger age (there are currently approximately 50,000 Chinese students enrolled in Australia, representing a 23% increase on last year). All newly issued visas will be valid for two years.
