Chinese Academics Rise in International Scientific Organisations

Two Chinese academics, WANG Enge, a Chinese Academy of Sciences member, and GE Yaojun, a Tongji University professor, have been elected into senior positions in international scientific organisations: the International Council of the American Physical Society (APS) Committee and the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), respectively.

WANG, the first Chinese scientist to join the APS, is a professor at Peking University and the deputy Executive Chairman of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics.

GE is the first Chinese Chairman to be elected to the IABSE in its 90-year history and was chosen as Chairman at the Association’s 40th Annual Conference in France.
