MoE Signs Industrial Robot Training Partnership

After surpassing Japan in 2013, China has since remained the leading industrial robot market and currently sells more than 15,000 robots per annum, accounting for around one quarter of the global market. In June, the MoE signed an industrial robot training agreement with ABB, Huahang Weishi Robotics Co, and Shanghai Xinshidai Robotics Co. Sixty-five VET schools have been selected to be the first group of participants in a national project. During this project, teachers will receive training and curriculum support and students will be able to participate in various laboratory design and “robot-making” competitions. Each VET school is expected to contribute RMB 5m (USD 750k) to join the project, with each enterprise donating RMB 3m (USD 450k) in equipment, as well as offering the schools internship and employment opportunities.
Huahang Weishi has a close working relationship with the Beijing Aeronautics and Astronautics University, as well as the German robotics company KUKA. Shanghai Xinshidai has established a new facility to manufacture 10,000 industrial robots in Zhejiang.
