School Permit Compulsory For All Training Institutions

According to the newly amended ‘Private Education Promotion Law’, one of China’s most important education regulations, all training institutions and private schools must now obtain school permits. This amendment will come into effect on 1st September 2017 in Shanghai, and will apply to other regions in China over time. Training organizations were previously only required to register their business as part of administrative approvals, but they must now also obtain a school permit. The administration of these organizations will therefore be more stringent into the future. Prior to this amendment, training companies who were not established to issue “degree qualifications” were not required to obtain a “school permit” from the local education bureau. The permit application requires companies to clearly state assets, sources of funding, full-time staff, and minimum numbers of students.
