Chinese rail R&D center to be established in UK

Chinese high-speed train manufacturer CSR Qingdao Sifang has entered an agreement with the University of Southampton, the University of Birmingham and Imperial College London to establish the China-UK Joint Research and Development Center for Rail Transit Technology. Research at the center will focus on connectivity technology, new materials, and fuel efficiency, as well as non-rail-specific disciplines such as air conditioning and energy system integration. The partnership will also see increasing numbers of Chinese students study railway engineering and risk management in Birmingham.
