BASF and Leading Asian Universities Establish Joint Research Initiative

BASF, a German chemical company, together with seven Asian universities and research institutes this week announced a new research initiative – the “Network for Advanced Materials Open Research” (NAO). Scientists from all participating institutions will cooperate to develop new materials for a wide range of applications, initially focused on products for the automotive, construction, detergent and cleaning product industries, as well as water and wind energy industries. From China, the Beijing University of Chemical Technology, the Beijing Institute of Technology, Fudan University, Tsinghua University and Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry are participating in the initiative, along with Hanyang University from Korea and Japan’s Kyoto University.
