New Measures To Boost Vocational Education in China

China’s government has approved measures to enhance vocational education in the country, calling for improvements to curriculum and training programs to better meet demand in the market and increase employment. Measures include: giving vocational schools more independence, increasing the number of schools in the country, as well as introducing channels that enable vocational students to convert academic credits to obtain bachelor and master’s degrees at universities. According to China Daily, China currently has over 1300 registered tertiary-level vocational schools, which saw more than 6 million students graduate in 2013 – almost the same number as university graduates.
