Beijing the Preferred City for Chinese Returnees

According to a report by the Center for China & Globalization, South China Global Talent Institute and Social Sciences Academic Press (China), around 270,000 Chinese who studied overseas returned to China to seek work in 2013. The number of returnees is expected to increase in 2014, with a predicted 340,000 returnees to move home. Beijing is the preferred destination and around one-quarter are seeking work with a foreign company. The bulk of returnees have completed a master’s degree overseas, followed by PhD and bachelor degree graduates, typically in either finance, economics, management or engineering.
